Why Did Didja Join the Streaming Video Technology Alliance?

Didja’s mission is to grow local broadcast and community TV with our LocalBTV apps and platform. With our common aim to provide the best live streaming experience to viewers and grow audience and revenue for our channel providers, joining the Alliance was a natural choice. The Alliance gives us the opportunity to work with other companies in our industry to solve real problems and learn from the vast pool of experience that they bring to the table. They’re also super nice and we get swag!

What Do You Believe is the Biggest Technical Challenge Facing the Streaming Video Industry the SVTA Can Help Address?

As with any large industry that’s evolved over time, the video industry has no lack of rough edges. For business and expediency reasons, individual companies tend to do their own thing: focusing only on the parts of those problems that immediately impact them and rarely share solutions to those problems. As such, the biggest challenge for streaming video companies such as Didja is simply figuring out how to do it well and cost-effectively given the multitude of products, technologies, standards and infrastructure involved in streaming a video from source through to an end-user’s screen.

How Does an Organization Like the SVTA Bring Value to the Industry?

The Alliance provides a venue for companies to share problems, collaborate on solutions with companies they might otherwise never have a chance to talk to, and then share those solutions with the industry as a whole. By having a broad spectrum of member companies, from major vendors and solution providers to small startups like Didja, the Alliance is a valuable source of information and best practices.
