Streaming Video Alliance Announces New Membership Grant Program

Grant Program, Available to Smaller Organizations and Individuals, Will Begin Accepting Applications in September

FREMONT, CA–(Marketwired – Aug 21, 2017) – The Streaming Video Alliance (the Alliance), an industry forum comprised of leading companies from the online video ecosystem, today announced its new Membership Grant Program. The program opens up opportunities for the first time to select individuals and companies to join the organization with financial sponsorship from the Alliance. The new Membership Grant Program will enable individuals, such as university professors, industry luminaries, and smaller organizations, such as startups, that may not have the financial means to cover the Alliance’s membership fees, to participate in and contribute to the Alliance’s work as Principal Members for a year from the date of acceptance.

“I’m thrilled that we are at a point in the Alliance’s growth where we can start offering a grant program to provide membership to smaller organizations, such as startups, and individuals that wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford membership,” said Jason Thibeault, Executive Director at the Alliance. “We’re making significant progress in the streaming video industry and are widely recognized as a source of industry collaboration, guidance and education. We look forward to the new perspectives, industry knowledge and contributions that the grant recipients will add to the Alliance’s work.”

In 2017, the Alliance is opening a total of six grants: three to companies and three to individuals. The applications will be available starting September 1st and the application window will close October 31st. The Alliance board of directors will evaluate potential applications through November 2017 with announcements of grant recipients made in early December. Grant recipients will be provided a Principal Membership, free of charge, through December 31st, 2018. Recipients can only receive a single Grant.

“We feel that the membership grant program will allow us to engage people that might not have been previously available to us,” said Joe Inzerillo, Streaming Video Alliance Board President. “There is a lot of very innovative work being done in the streaming video space by individuals and small startups. By offering this membership grant program, the Alliance will have the opportunity to tap into new innovations.”
