Overview

Streaming experiences require data to be associated with the content, from a basic title and description, to in-depth metadata describing the very detail of the content. It can also contain associated content, such as images, highlights, extras. It also defines content availability rights, user entitlements, and categories. With the television experience moving to streaming, either with D2C or IP delivery of traditional TV subscriptions, the importance and enhancements of metadata becomes more critical than ever.

Objectives

The Metadata Working Group will propose metadata definitions and enhancements to existing standards to provide better interoperability and scale for the streaming industry.
